According to The Highway Code, there are areas where parking is forbidden. Most of us have to read The Highway Code in order to pass our driving tests and then fail to refer to it afterwards. To refresh your memory, I have listed where you are not allowed to stop or park according to the latest version of The Highway Code:
1. The carriageway or the hard shoulder of a motorway, except in an emergency
2. A pedestrian crossing, clearway and taxi bays
3. A tram or cycle lane during its period of operation
4. A cycle track, red lines and near a school entrance
5. In reserved parking spaces for blue badge holders, residents and motorcycles
6. Anywhere you would prevent access for emergency services
7. At or near a bus or tram stop and taxi rank
8. On the approach to a level or tramway crossing
9. Opposite or within ten metres of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
10. Near the brow of a hill or hump bridge
11. Opposite a traffic island or another parked vehicle
12. Where you would force other traffic to enter a tram lane
13. Where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and mobility vehicles
14. In front of a property entrance, partially or wholly on the pavement and on a bend
