As a car parking expert, I am always asked for advice on how to parallel park. Learning how to parallel park can be a tough task and often people struggle to park in between two cars. Here are my top tips to help you improve your parallel parking technique:
1. Indicate in the direction of the desired parking space
2. Pull up beside the car parked in front of the space
3. Your rear bumpers should be level with roughly two feet of road between you
4. Reverse and turn your wheel as far as it will go towards the kerb
5. Continue turning until the back of your front door is level with the rear bumper of the car beside you
6. Turn your wheel away from the kerb and back slowly into the space
7. Straighten out your wheel and position your car in the middle of the space
8. Your car should be six to eight inches away from the kerb when you have finished
